Sales Success
The Irish National Stud has enjoyed tremendous success at the major European Sales as vendor and consignor, holding a then world record for the top priced filly sold at auction. In 2002 a striking daughter of Giant's Causeway out of outstanding producer Urban Sea sold for 1,800,000 gns to Charlotte Webber's Live Oak Stud at the Tattersalls Decmeber Foal Sale. Subsequently named My Typhoon, the regally bred filly, currently in training with Bill Mott in the USA, is a multiple Graded Stakes winner.
The Irish National Stud had another outstanding season at the sales and in 2006 we were yet again among the top 10 vendors at the premier Irish yearling sale; the three day Goffs Million Sale, with 12 yearlings sold for an average of €125,250.
Among those sold were a Green Desert filly out of Sabaah, dam of dual Classic winner Desert King who was bred, raised and sold by the stud. The athletic bay was purchased by Frank O'Malley for €380,000 and will go into training with up and coming trainer David Myerscough. Another of our homebreds, a King's Best colt out of Nebraas, a half sister to Gr.1 winning sprinter Malhub was knocked down to John Ferguson for €425,000.
